It also offered a customizable start menu and integrated social platforms, online services and other features into one platform.
Microsoft is now working on the next version of Windows, expected to be released in 2020. The operating system will return the Start Menu and feature more touch-friendly applications for tablets and smartphones. It will also incorporate a virtual desktop, which allows users to move and access apps in multiple windows on the same computer.
